Ancient Lake Agassiz can be thanked for leaving behind sand deposits in Manitoba’s Spruce Woods Provincial Park. Only a few kilometers of open sand remain. The rest has been reclaimed by plants and wildlife. The trail to Devils Punchbowl in the Spirit Sands section of the park provides perfect views of the Assiniboine River and surrounding parkland.
